SNGPL New Connection 2026 Complete Guide (Fee, Form, Status & RLNG)

Getting an SNGPL gas connection in 2026 is possible. The process has changed significantly since 2025 and many people are applying with outdated information. This guide covers everything correctly.

The Most Important Thing to Know First

Since September 2025, SNGPL has been accepting new domestic gas connection applications but only under the RLNG tariff. System gas connections are still not available for new applicants.

If you applied for a system gas connection before 2022, your old merit list position has been permanently cancelled. SNGPL confirmed this officially in September 2025. Your old application number is no longer valid. You need to submit a completely fresh RLNG application.

Also know this: after the ban was lifted in September 2025, SNGPL received over 700,000 fresh applications approximately 400,000 under fast-track and 300,000 under normal processing. That is a large backlog. Realistic wait times are longer than official estimates suggest. Apply as early as possible.

Which Areas Does SNGPL Cover?

SNGPL serves Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK), Islamabad, and Azad Jammu & Kashmir. This includes Lahore, Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Faisalabad, Multan, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Peshawar, Abbottabad, and all surrounding districts.

If you live in Sindh or Balochistan Karachi, Hyderabad, Quetta contact SSGC (Sui Southern Gas Company) instead. SNGPL cannot help you.

What Is RLNG? Is It the Same Gas?

Yes. The gas that comes out of your stove burner works exactly the same whether it is system gas or RLNG. Your existing appliances need no modification.

The only difference is cost. RLNG is imported Liquefied Natural Gas, regasified at port terminals in Karachi and injected into the national pipeline network. Because it is bought at international market prices, the tariff is approximately 70% higher than the old domestic system gas rate — and it changes monthly based on global LNG prices.

If you currently use LPG cylinders, switching to RLNG will likely save you money. Most households reach the cost breakeven point within about 6 months of getting the connection.

SNGPL New Connection Fees 2026

Here is the complete, verified fee breakdown. All figures are from official SNGPL announcements confirmed by The Nation and Pak Spectrum (September 2025).

FeeAmountNotes
Application submissionFreeNo fee to apply
Security depositRs. 20,000Fully refundable when you close the connection
Service line — up to 10 MarlaRs. 1,500Charged on your demand notice
Service line — above 10 MarlaRs. 3,000Charged on your demand notice
Fast-track (urgent) feeRs. 25,000Optional for priority processing

Total for a standard 10 Marla house (normal processing): Rs. 21,500 (security + service line), plus applicable taxes.

Total for a standard 10 Marla house (fast-track): Rs. 46,500 (security + service line + urgent fee), plus applicable taxes.

If additional pipeline extension is required to reach your property, extra service line extension charges apply. These vary by distance and are shown on your demand notice after the site survey.

Never pay any fee in cash to an agent or middleman. SNGPL does not authorise any third party to collect fees. If someone asks for cash to speed up your application, that is fraud. Always pay only through official bank channels shown on your demand notice.

Normal vs. Fast-Track: Which Should You Choose?

Both options lead to the same result an active gas connection. The difference is time and cost.

Normal RLNG: No urgent fee. You join the standard merit list. Given the current backlog of 300,000+ normal applications, wait times can extend to 6 months or more in some areas.

Fast-Track RLNG: Rs. 25,000 urgent fee. You get priority processing. Urban installations typically complete within 2 to 3 months. Rural areas take 4 to 6 months even on fast-track due to infrastructure limitations. Fast-track quota is capped at 50% of total applicants.

If you need the connection before winter for a new home, commercial kitchen, or geyser fast-track is the practical choice. Apply as early in the year as possible since the fast-track quota fills up.

Documents You Need Before You Apply

Collect all of these before starting your application. A missing document will delay the entire process.

  • CNIC copy (attested)
  • Recent gas bill of your immediate neighbour confirms your location on SNGPL’s grid
  • Property ownership proof Registered Deed or Fard
  • Affidavit on stamp paper (Rs. 20 or Rs. 50) confirming you are the property owner
  • Recent electricity bill of the same property
  • Simple house map or sketch showing your property layout

For commercial or high-pressure consumers only: a test report and installation certificate is also required. Standard domestic low-pressure applicants do not need this.

Scan all documents clearly in good light on a flat surface. A blurry or dark scan is the most common reason applications are rejected before they even reach the survey stage.

How to Apply Online Step by Step

SNGPL requires all new applications to be submitted through its official online portal. In-person visits are not required to start.

  1. Go to sngpl.com.pk
  2. Click on New Connection and select Domestic RLNG Connection
  3. Choose Normal RLNG or Fast-Track RLNG
  4. Enter your full name, 13-digit CNIC, active mobile number, and complete address
  5. Enter your neighbour’s gas bill reference number to confirm your grid location
  6. Upload clear scanned copies of all required documents
  7. Submit. Write down your reference/tracking number immediately. You will also receive an SMS confirmation.

After submission, SNGPL schedules a site survey. A surveyor visits your property to check whether gas supply is technically possible — how far you are from the nearest gas main and whether pipeline extension is needed.

What if your survey comes back Non-Feasible? This means no pipeline currently runs close to your property. It does not mean a permanent rejection. In 2026, SNGPL offers RLNG extension plans for some non-feasible areas, especially where multiple neighbours in the same locality apply together. Call 1199 if you get this result ask specifically about collective application options.

Prefer Applying In Person?

You can collect a physical form from any SNGPL Regional Office, Sub Office, or Customer Services Centre. Fill it out, attach attested document copies, and submit. Ask for a receipt. Keep that receipt it is your only proof of submission until your reference number appears in the system.

Understanding Your Demand Notice

After your application passes the site survey, SNGPL issues a Demand Notice (also called a Proposal Letter). This is not a penalty it is simply the official payment document showing your approved connection charges.

The demand notice includes: the exact total amount due, the authorised bank(s) where you must pay, and the payment deadline.

Pay the same day you receive it. The deadline on the demand notice is real. If it passes without payment, your application goes back into the queue and your position is lost. Reconnecting it to the front of the line requires another follow-up process that adds weeks.

Payment channels: JazzCash, Easypaisa, any major bank branch, or 1-Link ATM.

What Happens After You Pay?

Once SNGPL confirms your payment:

  1. A work order is generated and an installation team is assigned
  2. The team visits your property to install the meter and connect the houseline
  3. Gas supply is tested and commissioned
  4. Your consumer number is issued keep this number safe. You need it for every future bill payment, complaint, or query

Your first gas bill is issued within 45 days of commissioning. If no bill arrives, contact your regional office.

How to Track Your Application Status

  • Online: sngpl.com.pk → Online Services → Application Status → enter your 13-digit CNIC
  • SMS: Send your application reference number to 0921
  • Helpline: Call 1199 (free, 24/7) and give your CNIC or reference number
  • App: SNGPL ConnectOn on Google Play

The online portal updates every 24 to 48 hours not in real time. If your status has not changed for over two weeks, call 1199 for a live update.

Realistic Processing Timelines in 2026

Given the current volume of applications, here are honest estimates:

StageMajor CitiesSmaller Cities / Rural
Application to site survey3–5 weeks6–10 weeks
Survey to approval decision1–2 weeks2–3 weeks
Approval to demand notice3–7 working days3–7 working days
Payment to work order3–7 working days3–7 working days
Work order to meter installation2–4 weeks4–8 weeks
Total: application to gas supplyFast-track: 2–3 monthsFast-track: 4–6 months
Normal: 5–8 months+Normal: 8–12 months+

These timelines are longer than pre-2025 estimates because of the large number of applications received after the ban was lifted.

Common Reasons for Rejection or Delay

  • Blurry scanned documents scan in good lighting, check before uploading
  • Missing or outdated neighbour’s gas bill must be a recent, legible copy
  • Incomplete property proof a Fard without the registered deed is often not enough
  • Unpaid gas dues on the property if a previous owner or tenant left arrears, SNGPL will not install a new meter until those are cleared. Check this before applying if you moved into a property recently
  • Area declared as banned locality if your area has not been regularised by LDA, CDA, or local authorities, applications are rejected until regularisation
  • Wrong CNIC digits all 13 digits must be entered exactly when checking status
